Business Planning Training for Adventure Tourism Providers
From May 7 to 8, 2024, in the city of Karakol, a business planning training was held as part of the "Aid for Trade" project, supported by the Government of Finland and UNDP in collaboration with FSDS. The training was aimed at tour providers and operators actively developing in the field of adventure tourism. It became a vibrant platform for experience sharing, strategy development, and networking.
Over two intensive days, experts in tourism, marketing, and finance shared their knowledge and best practices, helping participants create customized business models tailored to the modern market, as well as methods for managing expenses, calculating profits, and minimizing risks.
One of the key elements was the analysis of trends and demands in the adventure tourism sector. Participants discussed important issues such as sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and community engagement.
Asel Dildebaeva, Executive Director of the Royal Gate yurt camp, noted:
“During this training, several entrepreneurs from the southern shore of Issyk-Kul decided to unite and create a joint product to promote and develop tourism through a Value Chain.”
Bermet, a representative of Terra Montis, shared her feedback:
“Besides gaining knowledge about business management and strategy planning, the networking was amazing. I discovered many interesting places and met new people with whom we plan to cooperate and develop adventure tourism in Kyrgyzstan.”
The training resulted not only in valuable knowledge and skills but also in the development of high-quality business plans. The best plans will receive grant support, and participants were provided with consultations on the grant application process and selection criteria.
The project also includes technical support for sustainable business plans that contribute to job creation and increased sales and services. Successful participants will receive not only financial support but also assistance in practical implementation.
UNDP is currently implementing the fifth phase of the "Aid for Trade in Central Asia" project, funded by the Government of Finland. The project aims to support inclusive and sustainable growth in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan by promoting "green" value chains and enhancing the competitiveness of the region’s economies.
